Summer Blooms

For many years life-time member Margarete Gilstein filled the Club’s flower planters on the upper greens with lush begonias and geraniums and tended the lower green’s corner roses and dahlias. When Margarete passed away, members fretted over who would take over the job we had all taken for granted. Along came Bonny, quietly and efficiently stepping in with Knut’s help to beautify the greens with a wide variety of flowers: roses, poppies, lobelia, daisies, asters, bachelor buttons and other lovelies. Bonnie arrives faithfully at sunrise or sunset to water and dead-head the colorful selection. Over the winter, she nurtured Margarete’s begonia tubers which will soon be blooming. A climbing wisteria was also planted in the NW corner of the upper green in Margarete’s memory.
