New Years day bowling 2019

While most of Canada is out shoveling snow or enjoying winter sport in freezing temperatures, it’s always fun to get out on the greens on a balmy West Coast day and gloat a little bit!

An excellent turnout for a winter day.

The large turnout of members at the Victoria Lawn Bowling Club’s annual New Year’s Day event reflects the ongoing vibrancy of our 110-year-old organization.

While the croquet contingent brought in the new year on the lower green (see Croqueteers Enjoy New Years Day), lawn bowlers filled the upper green for four rinks of triples and two of doubles.

After eight ends of social play, everyone doffed hats, scarfs and gloves to enjoy more chat over hot tea and seasonal goodies. Thanks Peter and MaryLynne for acting as drawmasters and hospitality committee for refreshments.
