What’s New in 2024

VBCC Club President Anita McCaw outlines plans for the ‘official’ 2024 season (from May to October).

Members, take note of new look inside the clubhouse–feature wall behind Anita denoting history of the Club.

Approx. 50 members attended our Spring Information Meeting. President Anita McCaw emphasized the necessity and appreciation of volunteers, and outlined plans for Open House April 20/21, Opening Day May 4th with City officials attending, and the summer bowls program (leagues, lessons, tournaments and draws). She also stressed the need for bowls tournament managers if bowlers want to see tournaments go ahead. Signup sheets are on the main bulletin board.

David Whiting spoke on behalf of Croquet Games TL Donna del Torre about plans for croquet. House TL Peter Rassenti revealed the colour choices for painting of the clubhouse in April/May. Sandy Hodel reviewed number of rentals booked to date, the first one on April 16th. Grounds and greens TL Chris Jones outlined the work necessary to keep our greens in good playing conditions. He also invited members to consider taking courses using VIA Sports Grant. KH/Social TL Kathy Moi-Barker indicated that more socials are planned for summer months, as well as holding another Food Safe course.

We now have a license to sell 50/50 tickets. Half the day’s proceeds went to the club, the other to Minke.
