Annual General Meeting 2022

This year’s AGM, preceded by a volunteer appreciation lunch, drew about 50 participants, more than enough to reach the necessary quorum.

A moment of silence memorialized the passing of several members, including most recently croquet player Diane Carter and very active former-member Bill Milroy.

Minutes of the 2021 AGM were approved, treasurer’s and committee reports presented. A motion was passed to rename Hospitality in the Standing Rules to Kitchen Hospitality. The Executive Board was given the green light to review the Club’s governing documents (Constitution/ByLaws and Standing Rules). Elections of Officers and Committee Chairs followed.

President Kathy Moi stepped down to be replaced by incoming President Peter Gilchrist. The following Officers were nominated and agreed to serve for another term: VP Brenda Janke, Treasurer Sandy Hodel, Secretary Michael Shepherd.

The following Committee Chairs were nominated and re-elected: Kitchen Hospitality Annie Boldt, Greens Chris Jones, House Peter Rassenti.  Rosemary Verren-Delbridge moved from PR to Social.

New Committee Chairs were elected: PR Cathy Korpela, Games Michael Pardaens, Membership Judy Arsenault, Player Development David Whiting. Long term member Elaine Huber was selected to replace Angelina Flath as Honorary President.

A heart-felt thank you goes to the following Officials and Committee Chairs who have stepped down but served VictoriaLBC with so much dedication in various positions for multiple years: Kathy Moi (president and vice-president), Keith Newhouse (membership), Pierre Dunn (player development), Gopal Gowda and Anita McCaw (games).

Dedicated long term member JoAnn Allan was designated an Honorary Life Member.

As a member of VLBC for 24 years, JoAnn participated fully in lawn bowling and croquet and won numerous club and BSI tournaments and several croquet tournaments. She also served on the Executive as head coach, player development and games chairs and was an Honorary President. In addition, JoAnn facilitated games workshops, ran both Club and BSI tournaments (was instrumental in incorporating computer programs), and organized women’s lunch meetings. Most recently JoAnn served as the VLBC webmaster and Club historian, see History (and sub-categories).

Thank you JoAnn for all that you have contributed. You will be missed in so many ways.

With so many members committed to making VictoriaLBC the special place that it is, we are poised for an exciting new year of lawn bowling, croquet and social events.
