VICTORIA LAWN BOWLING CLUB's Semi-Annual General Meeting
1:30 pm Sunday March 2012

There are several important items on the agenda so we hope you can make this meeting. Traditionally the money raised at the Knut Berg Charity Tournament has gone to four different charities on a rotation basis. A desire to include another charity to the rotation has been suggested and this will be discussed. Another topic will be team shirts. Does the Club want teams to be able to wear a team shirt in tournaments? If so, what kind? Come see three different styles modelled by our own bowlers. Voice your opinion. Note that if a team shirt is approved and it has colour, a motion will be brought forward to change Clause #4. Dress, Colours, Badge of the Constitution which mandates that whites be worn. And, of course, come find out what's happening in the upcoming bowling season. Refreshments will be served after the meeting.

Novice Tea on Sunday April 1 at 1 pm

This is the time when the game of bowls is introduced to prospective members who haven't bowled before. Weather permitting, they will be able to deliver some bowls on the greens. Refreshments will be served.
Training begins on Monday April 2 by qualified coaches. Generally bowlers have 6 lessons. Training times are flexible if required. Note that bowlers wear smooth, flat soled shoes to protect the greens and whites are not required during training. There is no charge for the instruction, but there is a small $10 charge to cover the cost of the two booklets provided.

Opening Day Game on Saturday April 28 at 1 pm

Tags in by 12 noon to give the drawmasters time to make up the teams. The ceremony will start at 1 with a parade led by a piper. Novices will be introduced and receive their name tags. A spider will start the game. Only eight ends are played to allow time for members to enjoy a delicious tea. We hope all members will be able to make this special event.
