The Victoria Lawn Bowling Club was established in Beacon Hill Park in 1909 and was incorporated by the Societies Act on January 13, 1909. It remains one of the longest standing members of the Act and has occupied the same corner at Park Blvd. and Cook St. ever since. Bowling started on June 14, 1909 and we have operated continuously since that time with the Women's Club, incorporated in 1921, being amalgamated with the Men's Club in 1981.
Bowling is available every day from the last week in April until the first week of October for our members and visitors, with no committment to attend regular daily sessions. Teams are selected by drawing from those present, and a typical game lasts about 2 hours. There are men's and women's leagues that play weekly. We also have many Club Tournaments, most of which are formed by random draws. In addition, there are opportunities to participate in BSI Tournaments. In the summer we provide an opportunity for the community to try lawn bowling on Friday evenings.
During the winter season our many social activities, such as bridge, bingo, euchre, cribbage, book club, movie nights, and social events, create an ongoing vibrant club. We offer both social and playing memberships to anyone interested.
Throughout the years, we have had Canadian Champions and provided wonderful recreation and friendship to many members of the community, and visitors. Social Lawn Bowling offers a great place to meet people, and enjoy fun and friendly competition, social events and get togethers.
