Although an Arctic air mass plunged temperatures to the -20Cs across much of Canada on New Year’s Day, the West Coast reached a balmy 4C. Blue sky and sunshine drew twenty-eight enthusiastic lawn bowlers out onto the greens to enjoy the warmth of the rays and congenial company.

Short jacks were the order of the day. Following an invigorating eight-end game in sets of triples and a double, the group gathered inside to enjoy hot tea or coffee along with an array of fruit, cheese, oysters, crackers, seasonal baking and sweets.
New Year’s Day bowling is an annual event at the Victoria Lawn Bowling Club. The next annual bowling event will be on Valentine’s Day. In the meantime, some members continue to play croquet several days a week, weather permitting.
ALL THE BEST IN THE COMING SEASON!
